Love Not The World
An ode to 1 John 2:15-17
Warning
When the banners of men are flying,
and the cheers of the crowd run loud,
Beware when your heart starts buying
the praise of the passing crowd.
For the world will crown you quickly,
then cast you to the side.
It loves the bold and wealthy,
but it never stays as guide.Love not the world my brother, its glory is only dust. The more you cling to its promise, the sooner it turns to rust.
Temptation It whispers take and take it, for life is yours to claim. But the lust for flesh is hunger, and the lust for eyes is flame. And the pride of life is poison that blinds the wisest king. For Adam lost the garden when he reached to own all things.
Love not the world my brother, its crowns are a borrowed light. One dawn will break upon you, and the world will flee from sight.
The Greater Way
Choose well the King you follow,
for only one can reign.
The world rewards with sorrow,
but Christ redeems with gain.Love not the world my brother, nor the things that fade and fall. For he who does the Fathers will abides beyond it all.
